What is the city of STATIC (lore wise)?
- STATIC is an immersive simulation developed by Varia Communications and Monogon Industries to offset the delays in MythOS City caused by Arthur Ford’s actions. Initially a backup platform, STATIC quickly gained a massive userbase after Varia bundled it with their internet services, becoming the first officially recognized massively multiplayer online social space.
- Built on a custom fork of the BONEWORKS core system, STATIC emphasizes networked interaction over isolated simulation. While it mirrors MythOS City’s physics-driven systems, it approaches them with a network-first architecture, optimized for real-time multiplayer experiences.
- User presence and the System Clock is managed via VoidNet Reference Points, which handle ultra fast data routing and ensure headset to server synchronization, preventing a users consciousness from desyncing with their body. VoidNet Syncing forms the backbone of STATIC’s infrastructure.
- The city itself is streamed in modular chunks across a distributed server grid, allowing for extreme scalability, dynamic content streaming, and massive concurrency. Adaptive systems within the city respond to user behavior, giving STATIC the feel of a living, evolving digital space.
